“The most precious light is the one that visits you in your darkest hour!”- Mehmet Murat ildan
We are still in the midst of one of the worst pandemics of the century. In the literal sense, it seems that the entire world has come to a halt. The present situation really makes one sad and gloomy as there is fear, death, mistrust on one side but if you look at the other side of it you will find that there are these corona warriors- doctors, nurses, paramedic staff, sanitary workers, police force, defense forces, officials of the governments-central, state, districts and for that matter RWAs who are selflessly dedicated to this national emergency. The common people too are trying to contribute their bit to overcome this dreaded disease by staying safe at home.
The students of ASPAM Scottish, one of the best CBSE Schools in Noida showed their awareness regarding the dreaded COVID-19 by talking about its causes, impact, and precautions and thereafter through a heart-warming video acknowledged the contributions and efforts of corona warriors for not only keeping us safe but for performing their duty diligently and nobly.
This global catastrophe is not less than a nightmare for the citizens. Each and every sector of the world economy is affected by it. Developed or developing nations, urban or rural populations everyone is feeling the brunt of corona contagion.
Life throws challenges and every challenge comes with rainbows and lights to conquer it so instead of thinking and feeling depressed about the lockdown, let’s think of some positive aspects that this pandemic has given to the people of the world. It is said that every dark cloud has a silver lining and the silver lining, in this case, is the effect of global calamity on the biotic and abiotic components of the ecosystem. Biotic components refer to people, plants, and animals and abiotic component refers to water, air, temperature, soil, etc.
When we talk of people, we visualize a common man who is running from pillar to post 24×7 to earn his livelihood. The man although referred to as a ‘social animal’ has no time for his immediate family and to expect him to contribute to the society is really asking too much from him…. But now he can spend some quality time with his family i.e. play with his children, offer advice to them if needed, talk and devote some time to his aging parents who previously did not the desired time or attention from their children or grandchildren. Taking the family out to a mall or a customary weekly dinner does not demonstrate the family bonding. Presently we are refraining ourselves from all these activities and yet we are happy and our familial bonds seem much stronger than before. It is probably because there is a lot more communication amongst family members than earlier. This period has made us understand the worth of each and every person in society. We cannot undermine the contribution of any person as each member of the society is like a cog in the wheel. Moreover, this period is a time of intro inspection wherein we have got time to analyze and evaluate the human psyche. The manner in which we see the pain and sufferings of our folks reveal how empathetic, compassionate, genuine we are.
The other biotic components are also in a state of peace. We do not hear about incidents of poaching or indiscriminate cutting of trees that go on to suggest that the natural habitat too can take to the path of invigorating itself.
The abiotic components too are healing themselves, more so, because there is no external force to harm them. We hear it in news these days that the River Ganga is much cleaner than it was before the lockdown was enforced and the same goes for River Yamuna. Despite herculean efforts undertaken formerly, the rivers have now started to clean themselves up when left untouched. The much-improved quality of air is another factor for which we should be optimistic about. Carbon footprints too have been minimized to some extent. Nature has set itself on the self -recovery mode and this reclamation will most certainly help both the ecosystem and humans.
Every coin has two sides. Agreed one side is murky but the other side has positives too. Just remember that the light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it. Every sunrise is an opportunity to re-start and once the sun rises, everything will be bright and glorious.
