Jerred Price’s Elton John tribute band, “Almost Elton John,” blew audiences away in their recent performance at Hard Rock Cafe. Almost Elton John regularly performs at historic Lafayette’s Music Room for their hit show “Almost Elton John & The RocketMen”—Jerred Price being the almost Elton John and his band being the Rocket Men.
Almost Elton John & The RocketMen started at Hard Rock on Beale Street but now has grown to have a life of its own. The show was voted runner up “Best Live Act/Musician” recently in the 2021 Memphis Most Awards by the Commercial Appeal. He regularly performs at Lafayette’s, and Jerred “Almost Elton John” Price periodically posts about his upcoming shows on his Facebook (@jerredprice). In one notable recent event at Memphis Botanic Garden, Price gave his tribute performance as Almost Elton John for more than 1,200+ people.
Price has gotten to meet the Rocket Man himself on multiple separate occasions; the two share a friendship bound by an almost sacred love for art and music. For Elton John’s 60th birthday celebration in New York City, Jerred was the featured artist for the “Lunch Around the World” cruise. The event was intended to help raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Price also shares Elton John’s devotion to helping the community—and to complete the circle, he’s an active LGBTQ+ supporter and ally. He was appointed as Commissioner of the City of Memphis’ Memphis City Beautiful by Mayor Jim Strickland in 2018, while in 2020, he was elected President of the Downtown Neighborhood Association, which is the oldest and largest neighborhood Association in Downtown Memphis. The association has an outreach of more than 12,000 residents and businesses.
Also, in 2020, he was nominated and approved by the Victory Fund Campaign Board. The organization is dedicated to helping openly LGBTQ+ people run for office. The organization also encourages candidates to promote equality across the US government. Working for Victory Fund Campaign Board, Price has gotten to enjoy the company of some of the most influential figures in the LGBTQ+ community and political leadership in the US. He incessantly works for numerous organizations that include Friends for Life, Elton John AIDS Foundation, Mystic Krewe of Pegasus, Downtown Neighborhood Association, and Memphis Medical District Collaborative. Jerred also owns and runs a five-star rated Angie and Houzz certified housing company called Price & Co. Roofing that also supports the LGBTQ+ community.
