The demand for data science professionals has grown in the industry. However, recruiters find it very challenging to find credible data scientists. It’s immensely difficult for a recruiter to gauge the skills of a data scientist in an hour of interview. Data science certifications are helpful in this scenario. Hiring managers can ascertain the skills a candidate possesses and prefer them to hire.
Professional data science certifications
Professional certification is a credential earned by a candidate after completing an examination conducted by a certifying body. The credential is proof that the certification holder is proficient in the skills required by the holder to successfully perform their job. Several data science certifications help recruiters by helping them short the finest data science candidates for their role.
1.Chartered Data Scientist (CDS)
This certification is offered by the Association of Data Scientist (ADaSci). To make this certification, you need at least two years of experience as a data scientist. This certification is offered to fresh graduates as well. However, in this case, the credential is withheld until the candidate gets two years of experience as a data scientist. The credential is valid for a lifetime and doesn’t expire nor require re-certification.
2.Senior Data Scientist (SDS)
SDS credential is offered by the Data Science Council of America (DASCA). You need at least six years of experience in Big Data analytics or Big Data Engineering to take this certification.
