Pulsed light is a novel treatment for dry eye. It is a revolution in the field of ophthalmology since until now only drug treatments, heat application and massage were available to mitigate the symptoms of this annoying pathology. However, thanks to pulsed light, it is possible to act directly on dry eyes and improve symptoms with more lasting results.
The pulsed light systems that is being used ophthalmological centers, or with ThermaEye or Ellipse technology, are among the few equipment that exist today for advanced dry eye treatment. In addition, both technologies also serve the ophthalmologist in his usual consultation for other eye diseases such as the treatment of blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids).
Dry eye treatment with pulsed light
Pulsed light treatment is done in 3 sessions divided over a month, and it is convenient to repeat it once or twice a year. Each session lasts about 5 or 10 minutes, it is completely painless and easy to apply.
ThermaEye
This system goes a step further in terms of diagnosis and therapeutic treatment to be followed as they apply LIUR (Ultra Regulated Intense Light) technology instead of high intensity pulsed light (IPL), widely used in dermo-aesthetics.
This advanced technology consists of constant low-intensity micro-pulses, which allows natural cooling of the skin during treatment and prevents the occurrence of harmful side effects. Thanks to the LIUR ThermaEye Technology, it can be safely applied to any type of skin without the need for filters or cooling systems, necessary on most IPL laser platforms. In addition, thanks to ThermaEye treatment you get:
- Reduction of local inflammation and of the eyelid bags.
- An improvement in the circulation of the treated area.
- The removal of anomalous veins surrounding the Meibomian glands.
- It also facilitates the outflow of fatty material from the Meibomian glands while improving the stability of the tear film and helps stabilize the conjunctival and palpebral flora thanks to its antimicrobial and antiparasitic effect, which is why it is indicated for the treatment of blepharitis and from Demodex.
IPL blepharitis treatment:
ThermaEye was born from the search for a real treatment for the dry eye syndrome patient, pursuing an increase in the patient’s quality of life that is reduced by the symptomatology and chronicity of the treatments.
Thanks to the anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiparasitic effect of La Luz pulsed the treatment with DX Therm is indicated in patients with blepharitis, dysfunction of meibomian glands and demodex improving the quality of life of these patients thanks to the benefits of therapy and a lower dependence of palliative treatments. The treatment consists of 3 or 4 painless sessions of IPL spaced in less than 2 months with a duration of 5 or 10 minutes.
Ellipse
Ellipse’s SWT (Selective Waveband Technology) technology eliminates unnecessary and potentially harmful wavelengths, emitting only those that are beneficial to each treatment. This significantly reduces the amount of energy required and increases patient safety and comfort. Combined with the perfect square pulse technology and Ellipse’s patented dual filtration mode, SWT allows all Phototypes to be treated without the need for cooling, and especially can treat the periocular area safely and effectively.
